I would like to create a Sales Flyer and send it out to my customers as the body of an e-mail message. I receive them all the time in my e-mail, and would like to know how it's done. I would like to create the flyer in a Microsoft program, either PowerPoint or Word. I know how to create the flyer, I just need to know how to put it in the message. Thanks!

Hi

If you are using Word 2000 or XP/2002 create the flyer and click on File -> Send To -> Mail Recipient. This will send what you have done as the body of the e-mail.

Hope this helps

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Should work the same with PowerPoint? If not, I suppose I could create it in PP and import it into Word? Any ideas?

Larry,

I don't know about anybody else, but I get absolutely fed up with HTML email which takes ages to download over a dialup connection and this extra formatting gives me no enhancements over the text only equivalent apart from a longer download time.

Remember that not every email client can read HTML email, so you are limiting your recipients ability to view it as intended. Surely as a salesman, you are required to make your advertisements visible to as wide an audience as possible.

Hi

Unfortunately Powerpoint doesn't have that option but you can click Send To -> Microsoft Word and click Outline Only if you only want to send the contents of any slides with no room for notes. Then from Word you can follow the same procedure as above.

Hope this helps

So true, John, but what would be the best way to show someone the difference between say, three different products I wish to promote? I'm like you, I also hate the long wait for downloads. However, my customer list would actually be looking for what I am putting on special. It is a select list of Purchasing Managers for companies with which I do business. Sure appreciate your thoughts and help.

Thanks, TSSTechie, appreciate your help!

Do any of you know how to create this mail through code? I've been able to do it with html, but none of the pictures get embedded. This means I have to have all the pics stored at an external site and use links to them. Is there a way to embed HTML pics to download with the mail?

Could you put the pages/pictures up on a webpage, and send the link - that way you're not trying to send big emails, and not restricting to HTML only email clients

Madonnac has the answer to the problem from my email. Take a look at it and think hard. A computer without a web browser now is very rare indeed.

Thanks to all, it's great info and I agree the web page is the way to go. Now, I need to learn how to create a web page. Bookstore should be the best source and thanks again.

I would think what you are wanting to do would be a quick trip to the "Block Senders" hell by me and most of the people I know receiving such through email... and I am on broadband..

Getting stuck in half a million blocked senders boxes isn't quite the way to get your product out there..

You're right, SESaskDFC, but if you will refer to my answer to John on June 15th you will see that I stated that my customers are expecting to see what I put on special. They have ask that I notify them via e-mail when I put items on sale. This will go out to Purchasing Agents, not a half million e-mail recipients. Thanks for the help anyway.

You haven't said what version of Outlook you use

with 2000 and 2002 the simplest way is to use the stationery feature.

You design your page\letter as a html page then configure Outlook to use this as stationery. This will embed images into the message.

Or you could download a copy of Incredimail and try that.

Chris.

Thanks, Chris, I'm using Outlook Express 6. I will give your suggestion some thought. I'll admit it sounds real good. I think I can create the flyer in PowerPoint and save it as a html. Does that sound correct? I plan to go to Windows 2000. I have the program, I just have not installed it yet. Thanks, Chris

You might want to consider something like this at Bravenet

plus they do html templates for news letters etc

Powerpoint html should be ok for mailshots though and you can actually create the stationery in OE

Looking back at RoutineT's post, he was asking about embedding pics in a HTML email. This can be done because I have done it with MS Word.

There us two ways if doeing this one is to click and drag it to the Word doc and the other is to go to Insert>Picture>From File.

I have done this several times.

Now as for doing it through code not sure how but here is the code from one I did:

Code:
<p class=MsoNormal><span class=EmailStyle15><font size=2 color=black
face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;font-family:
Arial'><img width=250 height=318 id=&quot;_x0000_i1026&quot;
src=&quot;cid:image001.jpg@01C3399A.0E010300&quot;><o:p></o:p></span></font></span></p>
