Hi All,

I have an S8700 with an S8300 configured as an LSP. It seems to be OK until the link goes down and the LSP does NOT come on line. I have also noticed that when the link is up the S8300 seems to have no translations on it (when being accessed through the services port).

Does anyone have any ideas on what to check to try to remedy this situation?

Thanks.

Check this:

1) The configuration of the S8300 (you should set it to lsp mode and give it the CLAN ip address of the S8700 (not the S8700 server address!!), in the "configure server" menu of the Maintenace Web Interface.
2) Verify that the license file of the S8300 is set for LSP (ask your reseller to check it. If it is not, the S8300 will never get the translation file from the S8700. Feature "Local Survivable Processor" should be set to yes. I believe you can check this also if you run "display sys cust" on the S8300)
3) Administer the S8300 as LSP in the S8700 ("change lsp")
4) With "display lsp" in the S8700 you should see the S8300 in "in-service/idle" mode.
5) Make sure that the time in the S8700 and S8300 does not differ more that 10 min. (if it does translations will not be synchronized)
6) Ping the S8300 from the CLAN of the S8700.
7) Run "save translations lsp". The S8700 should send the translations filre within 5 minutes. If network speed is very low and this takes more than 5 min. the file will not be send to the LSP.
8) After all that are set try rebooting the S8300.

If all the above are OK and still you have a problem then call Avaya...

Petran.
