We are trying to find out what options/features need to be enabled on an S8500 with Com Mgr. 3 to have NFAS with backup (meaning if the primary d-ch goes down a second own takes over).

This is something that you and your service provider will have to work out. They will need to set it up on their end and you will need to change the signaling group to reflect those changes.

It should look like this when you are through.

Code:
change signaling-group 1 Page 1 of 5
                                SIGNALING GROUP

You will loose 1 trunk (the 24th member) by making this change.

When is the last time you helped someone, just because you were able to?

No options. When you create the ISDN Signaling Group there is a field 'Associated Signaling? y'. Change that field to 'n' and you can define the Primary and backup D channels.
