S8400 Server / G650 gateway / CM4.0
Save translation command does not work, response from system: MSS Error Encountered
It is not possible to access server from web interface.

As far as I know, this should be a problem with flash disk on S8400 board. There is special patch that tells you if your flash disk belongs to faulty batch, but I can't install it, because web interface does not work. I am facing potential loss of data if I restart the system. I am not 100% sure that my flash disk is bad, and the only way to read serial number is to shut the S8400 down and pull it out from G650.

Questions:
1. Did anyone succeed to solve this situation without turning off S8400 and losing data ? reset system 1, reset system 2 ?
2. Is there a possibility that flash disk itself is OK, and some other reason stops translations from being saved ?

If you have ftp or flash card backups, you can replace the s8400 and restore a previous backup.
There may be a way to save translations if you have modem access.

Hi Tier3,

Thanks a lot.
I have some old flash card backup, so it will not be a complete disaster if I shut it down..
Modem access and saving translations - sounds nice, how can I do that ?

s8400 cannot save MSS Error Encountered, disk has a read-only file system.
P14410 - PCN 1616B, PSN 1451U - replace defective Solid State Drives
(2GB Compact Flash Controller Card) installed on the TN8400AP board.
patch 14410 load to determine date code of flash on the S8400 card.
If in the bad date range, then customer executes entitlement to PCN1616B which
calls for field replacement of the flash on the S8400 (not the whole card).
Insite article KB01026000.

Thanks Tier 3,

I already went through this documents, all of them are based on replacing a faulty flash disk. I was looking for workaround, in order to avoid changing flash disk. Now I understand that workaround does not exist.

I contacted Avaya, official information is: 2Gb system flash disk for S8400 ( comcode 700450539) is not sold any more.
Now my problem is more complicated, I have to find third party flash disk that is compatible with S8400....

It may be eaiser to replace the s8400. If you have modem access and need help, send email. Do you have current backups?
