Just curious if anyone can answer why the Network Region of the PROCR in an S8300 defaults back to 1 after a Reset System 4.

We have multiple S8300LSPs that are in different network regions. After a system reboot, which happens twice a day with translation file updates, the PROCR network region regresses back to 1.

Any ideas????

This is the default setting as the main controler's procr is in network region 1. This cannot be changed (I had a case with Avaya regarding this issue a few months ago and they confirmed it).

You do not need to administer the LSP's procr interface in different network regions.

Petran.

I agree that it's the default setting, I was just wondering what the logic behind that was.

We have multiple LSPs hanging off couple of S8700's. When all resources, such as the LSPs, use the same network region you end up with the potential for network resource sharing. This is what we are trying to avoid.

What we found is that when we simulated an outage and the IP phones attached to the LSP they became aware of EVERY resource in Net Rgn 1. When we would remove the ACL to end the simulated outage the phones would immediately reattach to the S8700 (as they should) but we found many of the phones attached to CLANs for Audix, CMS, etc. Of course the work around is to move all cards that are not VOIP related into a new network region, but now all the phones will know about all the LSPs at the other sites. Again, the work around for that are ACLs, but I just want a logical explantion why that can't be set and stay in a different network region.

Hope that makes sense... and I'm glad to see someone else has gone through this as well.

Thanks for the reply!!!
