S8300 LSP Licensing Problems 2

We are having some problems loading an LSP license to an S8300/G450 combo. The license always fails with the message "platform type/offer type mismatch", however I've checked with RFA and verified that the license was for an LSP. I've also verified that the license that I'm loading is for module 3 since it's the 2nd LSP for an S8510 controller.

The odd thing is, the S8300 never found out the serial number of the G450, plus with the first run of the gateway installation wizard the serial number that came up was different from what was on the chassis sticker. Although subsequent uses of the GIW as well as with the "show system" command would display the correct serial number, but was still not detected by the S8300 server.

Any suggestions or experiences relating to this issue? I might try and look up some firmware updates, as well as a remastering of the S8300. By the way, the CM version load is 5.1.2.

your G450 might be defective. Also, never count on the rear serial # sticker to be accurate.

Try the firmware updates, the current one for the G450 is 28.25.0, see how that works. If you still have trouble, I would changeout the G450. Of course you will then need to do a serial # swap in RFA...

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of... we're just days from our deadline for this project that started this week (it was just supposed to be an LSP setup anyway). I could try the firmware updates (I'm actually downloading those now), but if it's really a hardware problem then I really can't do anything about it except wait for a replacement.

Thanks again Mitch, you're a savior!

Forgot to mention that any working media module that I insert at slot 8 always stays at "initializing" under the "show mg list" command. Yet another snag with this particular gateway *sigh*

grep ServerType /etc/opt/ecs/ecs.conf
does this linux command return the server type?
does CM Command: display system-parameters customer-option
show platform: number

Thanks bsh! I'll try that out tomorrow when I get back to work.

Just an update, it seems there was something wrong with the license as it finally worked after I bugged my RFA guy to check it again. However, slot 8 (supposed to be another E1/T1 module) is still having problems even after the firmware updates:

As for bsh's query, here are the info:

grep ServerType /etc/opt/ecs/ecs.conf
does this linux command return the server type? -> ServerType icc
does CM Command: display system-parameters customer-option
show platform: number -> Platform: 23

Code:

/opt/ecs/sys/probeserv
grep ServerType /etc/opt/ecs/ecs.conf

If you are still having issues with Slot v8, you could try an "nvram initialize" and see if that helps, if it doesn't, you should probably swap out the G450. Of course you will need to re-do the IP address's (interface vlan 1, ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y), and re-do the MGC list (set mgc list x.x.x.x,y.y.y.y,z.z.z.z), etc.

If you are going to have 7 or more DS1 cards (MM710's), I hope you have at least (2) MP80 media modules in that G450 for VoIP resources.

I really can't thank you enough for all the help you have given guys!

From bsh's post, it seems the S8300 is correctly detected.

Mitch, I'll try to re-initialize the nvam and see if that would make any difference, I'll be updating you guys for updates.

And yes, the G450 currently has 3 MP80 VOIP resources installed.

Nope, slot 8 is still not cooperating even after throwing the kitchen sink... might as well ask Avaya for a replacement soon.

Again, thanks for all the help guys!
