Hi , PBX is CS1000E, Rls 5, Having 100 IP user license also MGC contains both (96 and 32) DSP daughter board. In S1 IP field i used Node IP of Sig Server. What could be use in S2 IP field for an alternate registration of IP phones?? as in old releases i used VGMC card IP for an alternate registration(In case if sig server goes down).

In a simple configuration there is no need to populate S2. Failover to the VGMC card would have been automatic, since the NODE IP redirects the registering sets to a TPS element.

If the SS failed, the VGMC would assume the NODE IP.

Currently if i unplug CLAN cable of Sig server IP sets wont go register with MGC card. i have set both S1/S2=node IP.

Go into Element Manager and under the Node configuration for taht card make sure Enable Line TPS is checked.

If it is not, then the TPS is not running on the card and it won't assume the NODE IP upon a SS failure.

TPS is checked. Guru does it registered with MGC IP?? or DSP daughter board assigned IP?? Do i have to defined MGC or DSP IP under node configuration?
regards

I Don't think the MGC supports LTPS. If you want redundancy, you need either a 2nd Signaling Server running VxWorks, or VGMC (either MC32 or MC32s).

My mistake. I missed that you said Release 5.0 in the first post and an MGC card. I read it too quickly.

Allenmac is absolutely correct. No LTPS support on the MGC.

The Daughter boards on the MGC will NOT register any IP phones. Only SS, VMGC(MC32) or VMGC(MC32S) with TPS turned on in the Node properties will register IP phones. Your best bet is to get a second Signaling Server.

You do have to program MGC in the MEDIA GATEWAY prompt under the Superloop in order for the MGC to work. As part of the properties of the MGC, you have to assign the IP addresss (TLAN) for both port 1 (if equipped) and port 2 (if equipped). Remember only a 32 port daughter board will work on port 2 of the MGC. When pgming the VGW channels port 1 will be xx xx 11 xx thru xx xx 13 xx. Port two will be xx xx 0 xx.

One other thing MGCs only work with Release 5 software.
