Hi,
Now, I'm not sure that these are related but I installed Adkiller and it seemed (although it may be coincidental) that my mouse/cursor was delayed and my system slower. I uninstalled Adkiller and then would get a message saying that there was an Adkiller Missing file reinstall Adkiller. Then, I reinstalled Adkiller but still get the same message including Runtime error 216 at 00002E24. I've installed and installed several times but still the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas?

Probably will require a registry edit to get rid of the entry calling for the file. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.

Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

Did you remove the browser proxy settings?

I hear it doesn't work with IE5.5 or higher.

Check these two registry keys:

Backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:

To permanently remove the unchecked entries, Backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and delete the entry relating to AdKiller in the right pane.

Thanks to all, especially Reghakr. The computer tech guy just left and he found Adkiller (Akiller) all over the place. He did have to go to the registry and follow the steps your recommended as the program wouldn't delete from the computer in some places without going to the registry. I'm still having some mouse problems but that will get fixed eventually (at times the cursor doesn't move properly--other times it works great).

Five stars!!

Well, the second computer tech found that by doing Control/Alt/Delete and going through each program at start up and looking at "mouse behaviour and general sporatic system slow downs" it appears that when McAfee was started up, the problems occured. This is the first time there have been problems with McAfee although they do have some new information posted on their site about conflicts:
"Customers using Windows 2000 and VirusScan 5.1x or higher are advised not to upgrade Internet Explorer 6.0 because of an incompatibility with the Download Scan/Internet Filter which results in a WebscanX error at startup."
I have win 98SE and Internet Exploerer 6.0 and my computer was unhappy and now it's sailing along (increasing to 256 RAM also helped).
