Running an Business Inkjet 2280 under DOS!

You might try capturing the data stream to the printer to see what the embedded control codes are. Then print the controls out in DOS before you try to use it.
But there is also the probablility that there is some communication between the printer and windows that affects printing, and you won't be able to duplicate that with DOS without drivers.
You might dig in the documentation to see if it emulates anything else that you could get driver for. Ed Fair

Wow, nice unit. I just researched it - PostScript and PCL 5 together in an inkjet. Very nice.
So you can use a DOS program that writes a PostScript file or the printer will emulate a LaserJet laser printer. But as far as I can tell no ASCII text support. Sorry.
This is not unusual in modern printer - they (incorrectly) figure no one is using DOS and so they drop it - saves money. I have a QMS Magicolor 2200 and it also does not offer DOS ASCII text printing. Grrr!! Your mileage may vary...

If it emulates a HP laserjet you could try drivers for a laserjet. Try selecting a HP IIP for a start and see what comes out. This , of course, is assuming that the software allows printer selection.
