Does anyone know of a way to format or compile an Access database so it will run on a PC that does not have Access installed?

Thanks,

Stacy

Stacy,

I have no idea how to compile an Access Application as an executable that can run on a machine without Access. Infact I would be very interested in finding out if anybody knows how to do it. I have just developed an Access Application and some of my users can not have it simple because they do not have Access installed on their machines.

so please, this query is extremely important, please someone respond...

Thanks and regards,

Francis

The lastest versions of MS Access may be different, but I believe you need the Developer's edition of MS Access so you can run a setup program that will load the runtime engine on those user's machines.

In order for someone, who does not have Access, to run the database that you have created is to convert it to a run time version. HOWEVER doing so requires you to have the Developer Edition. If you do not, then it can't be done. The developer editon is expensive.

If you want someone, who does not have Access, to view a report, a good way to do so is to use Snap Shot Viewer. It is a free download from Microsoft. There are other ways, but using the viewer will maintain all of your formating.

Roughly how much would it cost to buy the developer's version, £....?

Thanks and regards,

Francis

As far as cost is concerned it would depend on the version.
The cost would be in the area of $500.00.

You could try the Microsoft web site or ebay.
