Hi,

I want to run a command to launch an application in startup. Because I want to specify some switches it is not as simple as adding the application to the scheduler. I have XP home edition, how is this possible please? With the old Operating systems it used to be as easy as editing the autoexec.bat file. Can someone help please.

Thank you,

Zac

Lots of places you can run apps at startup. C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder is probably the easiest. Create a shortcut which will run your app as you want at startup, and just drag it into this folder (where username is your profile folder. If its for all users, substitute All Users for username).

gave this a shot but when creating the shortcut it does not allow:

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE -k

do you see my problem? Any suggestions would be much appreciated please.

Thank you,

Zac

You need quotes, ie

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -k

Excellent - thank you very much, this worked perfectly. I was going to explore the avenue of having to write a batch file, but this is obviously much quicker and easier since I have never written a batch file - thanks again.
