RSOP indicates policies running twice?

I am new to server 2003, and I have it set up on a small network. I created users and placed them into an OU, then defined a default policy for the domain that redirects folders to the server and runs a login script to map drives. I don't see where I have anything duplicated, yet RSOP says that policy is running twice for everyone. Any ideas? Also, I don't know if this is part of the problem or just a symptom, but I have a user who logs into a desktop machine in addition to travelling with a laptop. On the desktop machine, all is well. On the laptop, sometimes the login script will not even execute. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As an addendum, I found that the group policies were running twice, once for the domain and once for the OU. I thought that was my main problem, but it appears to have been a side issue. Now the laptop in question, I found, connects to the network just fine, but it cannot contact the domain controller so it is logging in with cached credentials. I cannot seem to find why it is unable to contact the controller. Any dieas?

Tons.

Have you searched for Cannot Connect to domain in this forum?

Anything help?

Have you used the GPMC to see what policies should be applying and generated a HTML report to tell you exactly what policies are set. Is it possible that GP Loopback is enabled in one of the policies?

As for the laptop are the DNS settings correct and can you ping the DC by name?

Yes, I have, and of the posts out there, most were given up on and the author just reformatted the system. A last resort to be sure, but I would like to find a root cause. The computer's DNS server is set up to point to the domain controller, and it has internet capability, so I know it is communicating, it is just not logging in.

Is the main issue now that the laptop cannot connect to the DC?

Do you have any other workstations joined to the domain?

What OS is the laptop running?

Yes, that is correct. All my other workstations see the DC just fine. This is the only system that can't, and I don't know why it would make a difference, but it is also the only laptop.

Have you tried joining the laptop to a workgroup and then back to the domain?

What OS is the laptop running?
