u unistalled samba, no problem. but when i tried to install higher version then it is showing it is installed correctly. but no configuration are installed on my pc.
is there any problem in rpmdatabase.

When i tried to install samba-common it is giving me file dependancy problem. by it is asked me for old samba-common file. (i.e. samba-common 2.2.7a) in fact i want to install samba 3.0

This is why it is good to always upgrade your .rpm's

Re-install samba-common 2.2.7a and then upgrade samba-common with the 3.0 release.

Personally I think .rpm's are horrible.

But that is my opinion.

did it.
I am very tired now. Can u please tell me how to complete remove samba and install samba again

To remove:

% rpm -e <package_name>

Remove the samba-common and samba-client first.
Then remove samba.

Hope this helps..

Did this again. uninstall successful for samba and samba-client. but giving me error while uninstalling samba-common.
error: specified multiple package.
But i ognored it. and tried to install samba-3 again (it was successful) and then i tried to install samba-common it is giving me following problem.

file /usr/share/man/man8/winbindd.8.gz from install of samba-common-3.0.0-15 conflicts with file from package samba-common-2.2.7a-7.9.0

I think it is again file dependacy problem. Can u tell me how to UNISTALL samba-common package.
