I run XP Home (came with the HP laptop, can't justify the upgrade to Pro)...very mixed feelings about it. Anyway, that's another rant...

I have Roxio's GoBack...the basic version that comes with Norton Systemworks 2002. I have used it a few times (successfully). I have a 10Gig hard drive and System Recovery set to 10% of the drive. Unfortunately it seems to take 2Gig of the drive instead of 1Gig (if I have it correctly that its files are in C:\System Volume Information\_restore*)

I'm down to about 800MB free space and I'm wondering why I have System Recovery AND Roxio GoBack. GoBack's file is about 900MB and it seems to provide what I'm looking for.

So, all you wise people out there: Can I disable System Recovery, stick with Roxio GoBack and reclaim that 2Gig?

Thanks for all your help!

Go to Microsoft's Knowledge Base and look up article Q283073. It describes how to disable the System Restore feature.
