Hi All,

I keep receiving the error:

'Row cannot be located for updating. Some values may have been changed since it was last read'

The error seems to only occur when I edit fields in a newly created record? All other records accept changes just fine.

I am using D6 and the following components: TADOConnection, ADOQuery, ADOTable, Datasource.

I've already searched the this forum and the suggestions haven't fixed the issue.

Anybody on the list having the same problem?

show us some code. You can have issues if you're using an Access 97 database with a table that has an Autonumber field. If this is the case, the only fix I know is to upgrade to Access 2000 or later.

Hi Griffyn,

Here are the download links:

Even before I touch anything the error occurs within this code.

I have also checked the DB files I'm working with, all Access 2000.

To get the above code to throw the error:

open a db that has a boolean and text field, add a new record using the DOWN cursor key. Enter 'g' in the boolean field & press enter(an error will occur...) hit backspace to remove the character then immediately click on the text field and type some garbage in the field *then* press the UP cursor key - you should get the row cannot be located error...

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks for your time

Hi,
I have not gone through your code but the reason for this error is that, once you put the dataset1 in edit mode, and then change it through dynamic query or some other dataset component then, when you try to post dataset1, It will find a different row then what it was read by it, It fires this error.
