I am looking at a rout in ELEMENT MANAGER, and I am looking at trunk 2.

I want to reserve this and four other trunks for inbound calls. The start arrangement incomming (STRI) is set to off-hook wink for rlr trunks(OWK). The start arrangement for outgoing (STRO) is set the same.

Can I clear the STRO setting and leve it blank? Will that remove that trunk from the rout and leave it reserved for incomming calls? Can I do this for trunks 1-6?

Will the outgoing calls rout the same?

I believe you will have to build a new route and assign these channels in LD 14 to the route. Once you do this it will take away the PBX's ability to use them on the old outbound route. You will have to get with the phone company to let them know what traffic they need to send you on those channels.

The phone company has all ready given us the DID's for that T1.

Is there any other way to restrict calls on the selected trunks to leave them available for the incoming calls?

As posted, for the most part:

In LD16 create a new trunk route built just like Route 10 - all that'll be different is the Route Number and the ACCD.

Then in LD14 just change the RTMB of the five trunks (you want to keep from being used for outbound) to the new route.

That's all you have to do. Calls will still come in fine, but since the new route isn't in BARS, they will never be used for outgoing.

The only way to stop people from grabbing these trunks is to have them in a different route. The STRI/STRO settings will not change how the system selects the trunks for calls.

Just something to think about here ... I have worked on several systems where the T-1 circuits are chopped up in the manner you are describing. When initially programmed it works well and does what it is asked to do. As the company grows though, users start to get blockages inbound and outbound due to the lack of trunks available. For a while at least, returning the programming to using all trunks in and out eases the problems, but if you are trying to ease busy signals, the only real choice you have is to add more lines to the pool, or stop people making calls .....
