We currently have RIP routing protocol enabled on our LAN/WAN routers and I will be attempting to move us over to a more efficient routing protocol - EIGRP. My question is - what are some of the adverse effects, if any, I can expect if I try to enable both routing protocols on all of the routers until I can safely remove rip from each router?

Better yet what are some of the recommmended strategies in resolving this type of issue?

Thanks for your assistance!
Rob

BTW - when utilizing a routing protocol should I or should I NOT advertise networks that are secondary interface ip addresses?

Rob,
I would suggest that you use floating static routes to transition between protocols. Although manual, it will prevent any problems between the routing protocols. Todd Hethmon
