I have a router that has Gig-E and FastEthernet. That router is connected to a switch. I will probably be putting an IP on both of those interfaces, however I need it to be the same IP for both. Would HSRP or VRRP be suitable for a situation like this? Most of the HSRP setups I've read have multiple switches connecting to 1 router. I have 1 router connecting to 1 switch via 2 interfaces. What are your suggestions on the build?

Depending on the router and switch it might be possible to configure Fast EtherChannel. The only thing I would be worried about is the fact that they are two different speeds and I belive that Fast EtherChannel has to be of links with the same speeds. I might be mistaken though... it is late...

What kind of router and what kind of switch is this?

Well the switch is a C3524XL, and the router is a C7206VXR. I was thinking about the EtherChannel however I believe you are correct in stating that the member links of the EtherChannel group have to be of the same type (all 10mbit, 100mbit, or 1000).

One other thing - I am doing VLAN's on my switches and I am terminating my VLAN's on the 7206. Both of the links to the 7206 will be 802.1Q trunk links. Usually I'd create a sub-interface correlating to the VLAN ID (vlan 100 = fastethernet0.100, dot1q 100). My problem is I want to use 2 links between the router/sw for redundancy however how can I have the default gateway be the same on both links?
