To create a blend beginning from a circle inside your object and blending out to the shape of the object, first fill your object with color. Next, draw a circle where you want the blend to start and fill it with your chosen color. Then select both objects and go to Modify-Combine-Blend. To increase the number of steps in the blend to make it smoother, click in the info tab in the Object Inspector and enter a number there. If that dosen't give you the effect you're looking for, you probably need to use a radial gradient.
Please post back with any more questions you might have.
Reeces,
I am still having problems with the blend following the whole path. Is there any way to crop off a section of the path so that the blend does not flow all the way around?
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back with you. You should be able to draw a shape with the pen tool acorss the part of your object that you want to remove, select both and punch to remove it. Try that...if it doesn't work, you might want to play around with the other boolean functions. They're under Modify-Combine. If you can't get this to work, post back!
