Morning,

On a Sun E420R system which runs Solaris 9, root can not login in CDE anymore. Session starts for about one second and then the CDE login screen reappears. Any account other than root has no problem.

I delete file /.dtprofile and directory /.dt, it does not help. Following is the content of file /.dt/startlog:
...
/usr/dt/bin/Xsession[775]: 27153 Hangup
X connection to X connection to :0.0:0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown). broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

I read a realted article from Internet, author suggests to re-install CDE. However, I could not locate the install-cde script. I assume the install-cde is a Solaris 2.5 product.

Thanks in advance.

Warren

I have seen this behavior when root is using the korne shell.

Hi,

I delete .profile and root is able to log into CDE.

Thanks,
Warren
