our junior has just wiped out the Flash on a just out the box 3662 with a simple "erase flash"

It's now reload with the ROMMON anyone tell me how to restore the thing?

PLEASE!

Do you have an account with CCO? If so, you can download the IOS from there and TFTP it to flash. Since you have a new router, you can almost certainly set up a CCO account if you don't already have one. You'll need the serial number of the router to get rolling.

Actually, the xmodem suggestion is a very good one. Since you have nothing on the router at all, you probably wouldn't be able to use tftp. That requires an ip address on the router and that it be booted. Good catch Rucus1.

Thew newer routers actually allow you tftp from the rommon mode. You use a command set to enter all the ip info, then tftpdnld to initiate the transfer. The 3600's didnt use to allow you to do this. I have never tried to do this on a 3662 so it may work. The xmodem will mode certanly work it will just take a little while to send it.

I forgot all about the 'tftpdnld' command. I do seem to recall having used it about a year ago now that you mention it. Thanks for the info.

Thanks guys just left the unit doing an xmodem over night with a new version of IP plus which had to be installed anyway.

Thanks again
