Hi,

I have 2 servers. They both have dual port ethernet adapters, one on the network, the other connected to each other via a gigabyte cat 6 cable. I've configured the NIC of both servers to use jumbo MTU (9016 bytes). One server is running Windows 2000 Server, the other Windows 2003.

My problem is that copying a 100 MB file, using the Windows GUI, takes about 3 seconds (~33MB/s), while copying the same file with Robocopy takes about 20 seconds (~5MB/s).

I've searched on forums, MS website, usenet, Google, etc. and still haven't found why I get this pathetic performance. I also have some good performance using copy from the command line.

I've never timed a robocoy versus copy or xcopy, but I've always "felt" it was a little bit slower. But considering all the extra work robo is doing, that shouldn't be a surprise.

I know there is some overhead in robocopy, but it's 6 times slower on a single big file... Robocopy is not doing checksum or anything that much time consuming...
