Hi

I currently have a few workgroup computers connected to a file server. I've known a few friends who have set up roaming profiles without a windows servers and instead run it of a xp pro machine. I was wondering if someone could tell me how I can set this up with a file storage as the central point for the roaming profiles.

thanks simon

simoncarter2003,

You can do this with a script that maps a network share to the user's profile location at startup, but you'd need to do this for each user on each machine.

In a domain environment, you could simplify this by specifying the roaming profile's location in AD Users and Computers.

What script exactly would i need to use. I have tried typing in the path of the network share in the user logon profile path box on the machine. However it does not refer to this directory for documents, favourties, desktop etc.

How would i make this possible?

simon

Note that there is a big and fundamental difference between folder redirection and roaming profiles. You are going to get into a huge problem trying to synchronize the logon scripts for all users on all computers in a Workgroup.
