Roaming Profile Status

I just recently upgraded my Terminal Services Servers to Windows 2003 EE. I am running Roaming Profiles and everything seemed to be going fine. Begginning this week users called saying when logging on the get an error stating cannot load roaming profile, loading temp local profile. So when they are on none of their settings are loaded. When I go into User Profiles I see the status of some are stuck in 'Backup'. If I delete that profile and have them log back on all is fine, but until I do so they are unable to get on and work normally. Any idea as to what may be causing this?
