Hi All,

I have a number of HP computers with newer onboard nic cards that are not recognized during the RIPrep installation of RIS. The nic cards are Broadcom Nextreme series.

Our RIS server is a Windows 2003 server and I am pushing a Windows XP RIPrep image to the server.

I have been able to successfully make an RIPrep image and push it up to the RIS server. I have followed a few various Microsoft articles with instructions of putting 3rd party nic drivers into RIS but no luck. I receive the error message:

"The operating system image you selected does not contain the necessary drivers for your network adapter. Try selecting a different operating system image. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit".

Articles I have referenced and tried are as follows:

1) I have created the Drivers\Nic directory on the host computer and placed the drivers there.

2) I have created the $oem$\$1\Drivers\Nic directory at the same level as the I386 (RemoteInstall\Setup\Language\Images\Dir_name\i386) folder and placed the OEM-supplied .inf and .sys files for the network adapter here.

3)I have made the following changes to the .sif file:

[Unattended]
DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore
OemPreinstall = yes
OemPnpDriversPath = \Drivers\Nic

4) I have also copied the .inf and .sys files to the RemoteInstall\Setup\Language\Images\Dir_name\i386 directory.

Still no luck....someone please help!

Thanks

Darryl

Hi James,

Ummm...sorry - maybe I didn't clarify that...

I have created the original image which failed...then proceeded to do all of the previous mentioned items and create a new RIPrep image and I still have the same problem.

Thanks!
