Anyone have a working config of a righfax ISDN PRI T-1 setup to an avaya CM 2.2.2? We are using a Brooktrout TR1034+P16H-T1-1N-R card to a TN464HP in the Avaya.

I am not familiar with rightfax, but I can get D and all B channels to show in service from the avaya side, and our rightfax guy says they look fine from his side, but after a few successful connections, then all channels ring fast busy both directions even though everything shows in-service/idle.

If anyone has a working setup, could you post your config for both the Avaya and the Rightfax side. I would appreciate it.

I think you may need to have a T1 cross over cable on that. when you go from CPE to CPE you usually need one.

pins 1,2 and 4 and 5

1 to 4
2 to 5

I am using a crossover cable. We have several other Non-ISDN tie trunks to other Rightfax servers, and we use the Crossover with those as well. This is our first ISDN to Rightfax, and we are implementing it on Captaris's recommendation (although they cant produce any documentation on how to set it up) I did find one paper on the Avaya side setup, but there is a paragraph at the top that says that Rightfax does not guarantee the accuracy of these settings and it should be used as a guide only.

Everything appears to be working...all channels show in service, but for some reason they dont seem to be releasing properly. After bouncing the DS1 card, they work, but after sending a test fax or two, then the channels give fast busy even though they show in-service/idle.

we have a rightfax setup as well... tr114-p8v-t1 card in the Rightfax,, and a tn464 in the Avaya pbx,,,,
setup as a tie trunk, and using udp and aar to route them to the rightfax server...

here is my config if you want...

Thanks ZEN
We have several Tie trunks setup to Rightfax much like the one you have above. Because of some requirement, they want us to use an ISDN setup rather than a Robbed bit TIE. Thats kinda what im looking for is someone that has set this up ISDN.

oh,, sorry about that... I hope you get the solution you need..

Did you change CONNECT on your ds1 form to "line-side" to supply the rightfax the appropriate timing source?

-CL

I have an isdn setup going into a DS1 card then over to our brooktrout TR1034-P8H-T1 card. I can post my setup if it will help you at all. We use OMTool's Genifax fax server though. Also a quick tip, there should be a setting somewhere that you can tell rightfax not to wait for tone. Not sure if that would matter or not. I just got done battling my problem for over a month.

that would be great if you could post your setup... and if you have any config ideas for the brooktrout side that would be great as well. I am really getting no help from my friends at rightfax at this point, so any help I can get is much appreciated.

thanks

Let me know if you need to see anything else

That is almost exactly how I have mine setup, with the exception that on the DS1 form, you have "other" for CSU type. I Put an integrated CSU on mine. Are you just using an Amphenol to Crossover T1 RJ45 cable or something else?

I actually do not have a csu at all on it.
It is an amphenol connector on the back of the server then goes through our patch panel and crossover cable into the brooktrout board.
More than likely I would say it's a setting within rightfax on not in the Avaya system.
I wish I knew more about rightfax. I will read the manual to see if I see anything that might help.

and are you providing the timing on the ds1 form as earlier mentioned?

-CL

I appreciate the help...I wish I either knew more about rightfax, or Nothing at all! :) We are running 9.3

did you try protocol B (or ask the rightfax guy what protocol they are using)? B is National ISDN which is much more widely used especially by off-shelf vendors. Your protocol A is AT&T Custom. You need to make sure you are both using the same.

-CL

how come in format for your trunk group you don't have anything there? try putting pub-unk and see if that will help at all.

I did check with him and he said that the rightfax setting was AT&T 4ESS.
