Hi all. We've had a problem here with a few of our user's PC's. They are HP Brios running Win98. When the user right-clicks on something (to rename, delete, make new folder) she gets an illegal operation and Explorer is shut down. Error message is something about a "general Protection Fault in module S3_8NB.drv."

Then, whenever she right clicks again, she needs to drag her mouse up or down for the items on the right-click menu to appear.

We think it may have something to do with the Novell Netware client. We are running Client version 3.32 (which is the newest one for Win98) with the server running Novell Netware 5. I've tried reinstalling it, but it doesn't help. The only way to get rid of it is to reboot. Then, as soon as you try the right-click again, it does it all over again. It is even affecting some of the tool bar menus in IE.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Angie

I don't have an easy answer for you, but S3_8NB.drv sounds like a video driver. Just for grins and giggles, set one machine down to 640X480 and 16 colors. If the problem goes away, then perhaps updated drivers or a different video card would be the easiest answer..... Mudskipper

Quick! Run out and find me a four year-old child: I can't make heads nor tails out of this!"

Try updating your Pro Savage drivers.

I don't think that Novell is the problem.
