Hi to everybody i'm Omar from italy so excusme form my english.
i've a big problem with a netfinity 3000 mod. 8476-61U
when i try to boot it an erro appear
176 The system has been tampered with.
Turn power to your system off and then on
Your system is now locked.

Please help me to solve this problem cause this server is for the Host On Demand services.
Thank's to everybody
Bye bye

OK open you case and look on the side panel. There should be a sticker that showes all the jumpers on your system. Find the one one the sticker that is marked CMOS Clear Jumper. Now find that jumper on your mother board. Set the jumper and power on your system let if finish post and then power it off. Replace jumper and power system on again. Should work fine now.

Jumper should be located between the CPU and the back of the mother board. It should be the only jumper in this area.

Omar, Dhauser

I have an IBM NEtfinity 3000 that won't save the cmos settings. I changed the battery, yet it still won't save settings. I set up the boot order to hard drive, floppy, cdrom in primary, disable alternate and disable error boot.
It also tells me that the system has been tampered with (switch is plugged into the board and is always made). it also coems up with an occasional "assetcare" issue and RFID changed. ( I have disabled all of these security settings. (But after savingall of the correct settings it still keeps the same setttings or says that the system has been tampered with and has been locked. After I reboot it the same settings are back. anyone know if this is hardware?

Thank's to everyone's that help me
but at least i've found the problem
i've 3 capacitors not work propely
afther i've change it all the system are ready.
check the capacitors and then replace it
that's how i solve my problem
bye bye

the three caps bigger then the others
i see that this 3 'one are like fatter in the head ..
i don'y know if u understand me
bye bye+

Also - (I had a similar problem but with an IBM 300PL desktop) check to make sure the RFID cable is connected. Then do the Clear CMOS jumper routine.

I replaced the capacitors on the Board. There are 3 large Electrolytic Capacitors on the Mother board near the BIOS chip. These Capacitors may be bulging slightly and may actually be leaking liquid out of the bottom. I suggest ordering them through This server is running Solaris 9 and has been operational since October 28th 2003. (only one reboot since then due to a massive power outage).

We had the same problem here. Also a

message. We tried to reset the CMOS, whitch had no effect.
We looked at the 3 capacitors above the CPU unit, and they where bulging indeed.
We changed the 3 560mF/25V caps (they are parallel to each other, so in fact it's 1 big 1680mF/25V cap) in 2 1000mF/35V cpas, whitch we had on stock. So far the problem seems te be solved.

Thanks for the help!

.
NOTE ON PREVIOUS MESSAGE!!!

I made a mistake, it's not 560mF / 25V but 560uF / 25V.
I replaced them with 2 caps of 1000uF / 35V.

Good luck,
Patrick

I actually bought 560µf 50V caps and that seemed to work also. If the go bad again I'll see if I can get a 1680µf 35V to replace it!

Keep on Computin!

We checked if the caps where parallel, and they where, so in that case those three 560uF caps are the equivilent of one single 1680uF cap.

The closest we had to the total of 1680uF was two caps of 1000uF.

It's a lot cheaper then replacing a mainboard, when you don't have support anymore :)

I found this forum by searching the words RF-ID TAG HAS CHANGED, as I have a Netfinity 3000 also, that is doing the same thing. Many changes to machine lately, including a reformat about two months ago to XPPro. But last week I tried to install a wireless LAN card... a Compaq/HP USB device. This is when the trouble started. I never did get the Compaq (borrowed) to work, or the software to recognize the device, so I returned it and bought a Lynksys B card (which works fine). Ever since the Compaq touched my machine, though, I have gotten this RFID TAG/SYSTEM HAS BEEN TAMPERED WITH message at bootup. I am a little scared to go messing with BIOS batteries and CMOS jumpers, though, but I've found that all I have to do is boot three times for my Windows to load. Yeah, it IS a pain in the ass kinda, but three boots seems to be the charm. Third bootup it always boots normally.
