Review of Cisco PIX

I have installed a PIX firewall in Dec. 98 and now i think that it is a good investiment but a very good investiment is the TACAS (programm to controll access) .<br>
NOW we have a TACAS installed on a linux system (SLACKWARE) and it's works very well with CISCO PIX. Someone says me that there is a possibile intrution on our system but i dont think .

The only thing I don't like about the PIX is that it is not completely secure, it can only authenticate FTP, HTTP, and Telnet protocols. It will not authenticate HTTPS protocol, so when attempting to make a secure HTTPS connection through the firewall, you first must authenticate using HTTP (which causes the user/pass to be transmited in clear text) and then start a secure connection. This leaves the possibility of allowing unwanted users behind the firewall.
The last post is simply not true. I connect to my own website and a number of customer's bank sites using HTTPS with no problems. Furthermore, the PIX supports SSH for secure remote management. For end users who need a secure FTP format, they should use and SCP.
