Can you someone explain to me how this works within a CTI application.
Let's say your CTI server(non-Avaya) is using translation routing on the original VDN of entry for a call. However along the way as this call passes through IVR, back to PBX and with certain menu options thaere is a need for the lastest active vdn to be pass in another vector.

How would Return to VDN help or conflict with the process of passing the latest VDN information on to another adjunt.

It sounds murky but ask any additonal questions and hopefully that will help clear things a bit.

Thanks in advance.

When you sent to call to the IVR, you used queue to skill presumably and IVR responded back with a transfer. Thus, you no longer have the original call to route on the the 'Return to VDN' destination.

See if you can use Converse-on step in the vector to get the IVR involved. This might be tricky if the IVR is CTI enabled as well as the CTI server might filter out converse-on events based on the cause values the pbx reports.

With Converse steps, the call is temporarily routed to the IVR but is retained in the vector. When the IVR responds, it provides destination in digits and the vector uses these digits to route to the next destination. Because it is the same call, when it ends it will route back to the Return VDN destination.
