Hi,

We have recently put in a Apple XServe running OS X. On the advice of the reseller we purchased Retrospect and an external multichanger tape drive.

When setting up the box the engineer admitted to never having used Retrospect before. All I want to do is automatically run a full backup (user areas and shared folders) each night. The tapes are on a bi-weekly cycle. The backup script each night prompts for a user to say "ok backup using that tape".

Obviously this isnt whats needed I just want to automatically backup without user input, overwriting the tape in place.

Anybody any ideas as to how to do this?

Thanks

Steve

With retrospect you can usually schedule automatic backups.

There are a number of editable scripts, one of which is scheduling. You should be able to access it through Automate in the Dantz screen.

I use retrospect in the same set up as you (although its backing up to external drives that get swapped out each night).

I don't have that problem, it just goes ahead and does it.
I'll go take a look at the script later this afternoon.
