Retaining format in Word mailmerge to electronic mail

Any tips as to why a formatted letter is stripped of all formatting and logos when I send it using either Outlook Express or Outlook? All settings in both emailing options set to allow HTML or Rich Text.

Any tips gratefully accepted!
