Hi there.

I'm running Windows 2000 Server for a fileserver and I want to restrict certain users so that they can not access the internet when they logon locally. I don't want to restrict all users, just some.

Is there some way I can do this within Windows itself or do I need to get a third party application and if so, can someone recommend one?

set the proxy for those users to 127.0.0.1 on that server and hide the internet option with gpo.
If you can't login as them to set the proxy, do it from the registry.

Create an OU, and move the user accounts for the users concerned. Create a GPO and enter a proxy address as 127.0.0.1 There are plenty of posts on the subject in these forums, so do a search for further info.
