I've got a PBX that needs to play an annoucement to our customers. I don't have space for an announcement card and the Audix is remote. On the remote switch I do have Audix and a VAL. I want to forward the call to the remote switch to play the announcement but I'm concerned about using all of my tie trunk capacity if I get a flood of calls. The VAL queue (no) option doesn't seem to help. Suggestions?

Exactly what type of announcement? Just a mesage to play then disconnect the caller? Something to hear while waiting in queue?

do you have an auxiliary trunk board in your definity ?

With best regards

No, it is an SCC with all of the slots full - no room for and Aux board

an analog port? You can setup a tape player, pc, or MP3 as the source. Personally, I would just forward to the other system over the tie.

you could also route the caller back out the local system and into the remote system via PSTN. you wouldn't need to busy tie trunks that way. (Although you be using 3 PSTN ports.

OR

you could put a queue lenght on your VDN\Vector on the main side of 1. That would allow only 1 caller at at time to hear the announcement, and wouldn't tie up your tie lines.

if you used two, you could have them hold for the disco announcement.

first vdn

wait 2 sec hear ring back
route to 3333 with cov n = this is the 2nd vdn with queue lenth 1
wait 20 sec hear music
goto step 2 unconditional

This wouold allow you to queue up calls on the one side, and only allow one caller at a time to hear the annc.
