once files are deleted from the recycle bin can they be restored? how about a file that said it was too big to go into the recycle bin (approximatley 800Meg) asked if i wanted to permanantly delete it, can it be restored? this is on a home pc. i don't know what i was thinking or doing, cuz i did not want them deleted. is there any hope for me at all? any advice and or help will be GREATLY appreciated.

As it stands, it looks like your data is gone forever. However, I have seen cases where the file gets turned into a *.tmp file. What you should do is do a search on all *.tmp files and check the modified dates. If you find a big honking file that was modified on the date that the real one was deleted, you might be in luck. But again, don't get your hopes up to high.

Hope this helps!

Although the file may still exist (deleting just clears the directory entry), the chances are not good. If you have something like Norton Utilities, you can get it to search for deleted files and may be able to get something back, but the chances are with a file that big Windows will overwrite it pretty quickly.
