hi,
i have configured a fresh exchange server 2000. i need to pull all the emails from old exchange server 2000. i have checked with the backup option by selecting M: drive and selecting particular mailbox(directory). and also try with the restore option by restoring the same under M: drive under a particular mailbox. i found everything is good and working fine. is this recommended and correct way of backing up and restoresing the emails??. Please help me in this issue? as i dont have a proper hardware like tape devices to backup. i need all the email messages alone from the old server.replies and help will be appreciated.
thanks

Patience please, this is not a live free helpdesk you know!

In answer: NO that is not a good idea at all. You should NEVER mess with the M: drive, certainly not as a backup.
Invest in a decent Backup solution, or you will regret one day if you don't!
