Hello,

Our database is currently being backed up via SQL and then that backup file is being saved to tape and taken offsite. My question is if there is a fire or something and the machine with the database is destroyed, how do you restore the database off the backup?
What do needs to happen so that minimal data is lost in this worst case scenario?

Thanks,
Evie

Dear ;

The restoring process will be same which we adopt to restore database in normal case. If your machine is destroyed due to any reason then you will have to re built whole setup or machine and then create a new database in new SQL server and restore data backup from tape drive which you taken offsite.

Now, the level of data lost depends upon the time when you taken backup tape offsite. So that , you will have to create daily backup maintainance plans to keep the backup update.

Regards,
Essa
