In a recent experiment one of our guys restored the C drive of one of our servers to an empty partition to test out the restore. all well and fine, except it appears that now a link has been created to the SYSVOL share from within the restored WINNT directory on the spare drive. Now whenever we delete it, it promptly goes forth and deletes the SYSVOL on all the other servers. How can I break the link between the restored directory and the original and what is the exact name of this called? I am assuming it is an extension of FRS?

What is the operation of the server? If it is not mission critical, demote it, therefore braking the link. Then clean up the server and promote it again.
