Hello

Have you try to restore a w2K client with TSM ?

I don't have any BMR or DR module/agent, just TSM 5.2.2 client and server

I 've got a test server for this, but I'm uanble to restore this server. In fact it's nearly good, but all the profiles are not restored.

I gues it's a registry issue

So I'm wondering where is the issue: Is the registry backup allright and how to check it, or the issue is in the registry restore process ?

Did you experimented this kind of issue.

My test and restore procedure is the following

W2K +SP3 (same trouble with SP4)
TSM client 5.2
integrate to Domain
log into with 2 profiles from the domain (for test)
Full Backup of the client

Crash

W2K +SP3
TSM
Restore System disk, don't reboot, restore SystemObject and then reboot

The computer is ok, in the domain, but the 2 profiles have disappeared. (they exist on disk in c:\my doc, but not in registry)

Thanks for your help.

No, no specifically for this directory. But it is included in the backup.

Does this directory, should be specifically written in the dsm.opt or in the client option at the server level ?

Thanks for your help

From the command line (NOTE: Only restore system objects

dsmc restore C:\adsm.sys\registry\<nodename>\machine\ c:\winnt\system32\config\ preservepath=none

dsmc restore C:\adsm.sys\registry\<nodename>\users\default c:\winnt\system32\config\
Replied YES to replace system objects and rebooted

I must do it from the command line ?

It's not working from the GUI ? in the Redbook procedure it seems to be possible. In fact the result is not good :-(

Is it normal that the structure of the adsm.sys dir is different than yours ?
c:\adsm.sys\w2kreg\registry\machine
c:\adsm.sys\w2kreg\registry\name

In your second line, why do you restore only \users\default and not all \users dir ?

Thanks very much

Is is not just default, restore all your users. I have found that the command line is the only way to restore it correctly

Ok thanks but in my case I'm still unable to restore my test server.

I'll open a call at tivoli support.
