Restore public folders to a different server

I have Exchange 5.5 running on a NT 4 SP6A server. I'm using NT backup and run a full sys b/u everynight. One of my users managed to delete a file from the public folders and it needs to be restored. My thought was to try to restore it to different machine (off the network, with the same server name). Anybody have any suggestions/alternatives??

Yes, it can be done but sorry, I am not familiar with NT backup and have only restored a public information store to a different server using ArcServeIT backup software. Why don't you enable the recovery of deleted items on your public information store? That has saved me from having to do any public folder restores this year.
