Hi,

Hoping someone has tried this before with more success than me!!

Have a backup tape from an old server which was running Veritas backup exec 8.?. I need to restore the files on this tape to a new server so I can look at what is really needed and what can be deleted permenently;

Firstly got the catalogue from the tape so i could see the listing

1. would like to restore from the tape excluding files such as *.ps *.pdf etc have tried using the exclude value in veritas but getting error as listed below.

2. need to restore to a different server different location (tried using the redirection tab)

error i recieve is " System cannot find the path specified unable to restore file to directory" and the log shows that it skipped all the files

Anyone performed restores like this before or know why it will not just restore the files to the redirection location???

Help

Thanks in advance

go on your backup and use the run line. see if you have rights to the redirect folder? if you can't, setup the rights. if you do then you have a problem with the login that vertias is using for the restore.

Hold on! This could Hurt! I ain't certified by Microsoft!

Thanks

Cheers for the reply will look at the rights what u mean by using the run line?

Thanks
