Restore novell with windows Arcserve

Hi,

I've got a problem to restore some files with arcserve.

I've need to restore old datas was saved under novell, but now, we haven't got novell server/WorkStation. How can i proceed to restore this files without a novell server ?

I use arcserve with windows 2000 for backup and restore, and when i try to restore this files, i can't becauses arcserve said the cartridge is empty.

Someone has an idea ?

There is a document on eSupport.ca.com that explains under which circumstances backups made with ARCserve for NetWare can be restored with an ARCserve for Windows versions, but in most cases this cannot be done.
However, ARCserve 2000 should not tell you that the tape is empty, what is the exact message ??

Problem:
Can I use ARCserve for NT to restore a tape backup made with ARCserve for NetWare?
Can I use ARCserve for NetWare to restore a tape backup made with ARCserve for NT?

Resolution:
Yes, ARCserve for NT can restore an ARCserve for NetWare backup tape if the NetWare server has compression disabled and the backup was performed by ARCserve without using SMS. All files can be restored by ARCserve for NT except NetWare's NDS data.
Please also note that when ARCserve for NetWare is in non-SMS backup mode, OS/2 (HPFS files, Win95/Win NT files) and NFS (Unix files) long name format will not be preserved. ARCserve for NetWare will only use SMS mode to handle OS/2 and NFS name spaces on NetWare servers. Additionally, ARCserve for NetWare client session backups (ie: DOS, Win31, OS/2, Win95, Win NT, Win 2000, Unix, Mac, etc.) and database agent sessions cannot be restored by ARCserve for NT. Backups using the DBagents should be able to be restored since the DBagent is only used during the backup, not during the restore.

ARCserve for NetWare cannot restore a tape backed up on ARCserve for NT.

In most cases SMS will be used for backing up with ARCserve for NetWare so you cannot restore it with ARCserve for Windows.

You also mention that the tape is empty. Does this mean ARCserve recognizes it as <blank media> ?
