I did an extensive search, expecting a simple fix that bcastner or linney had covered already, but no such luck.
The problem started just after I upgraded my system to a raid(1).
-installed 2 new SATA drives(2x200gig), full XP Pro (new/fresh) installation (raid1 worked like a charm right off the bat)
-after installation, I copied over my data files from the old boot drive, ran all the updates (SP2 included)
-after copying, I formatted the old boot drive to be the new backup disk (80gig)
-left untouched a storage drive (120gig), which is also where the swap file is located.
Ever since formatting the old boot drive, I've been unable to access the system restore preferences under My Computer>Properties When clicking on the Restore tab I receive the message "Run DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"....Send an error report...blah blah blah...
I've run sfc /scannow, did not fix the problem. Issue is still present when booting to safe mode.
I'm wary of doing a repair install, but I'd love to hear other potential solutions before the last-ditch, cleans-sweep fresh installation becomes a reality.
No other problems to speak of, your help is appreciated.
