Hi All,

I been having this issue for a while.

Whenever I try to do a restore, it does not populate the drive. In other words I cannot restore an individual directory\file, I have to restore the entire drive.
I merge the database, but still having the same issue.
It's a headache backing up the entire drive when I only need 1 file.

Anyone had this issue in the past and know the solution.

Oh, I'm using version 11.1 of BrightStor

Thank you.

Hi,

Are yout at build 3100 of V11.1 ? if not apply the approrpiate updates.

Are you able to dril down to the file level on the restore manager?
What happens when you select a single file to restore?
Does the restore fail?

Are there any errors on the logs?

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

Hi,

I actually just upgraded to 11.5. Still having the same issue.
It does not allow me to drill down beyond the actual drive letter, nor do I see any folders\files beyond the drive.
It does not populate the drive, I have to select the entire drive in order to restore.

But when the actual restore runs, it does restore. Problem is it's the entire drive.

I will look thru the log file. Not sure if it's going to list any problem as I am not getting any errors.

Thanks for the input, any other suggestions please let me know.

Thanks again.

Hi,

"It does not allow me to drill down beyond the actual drive letter, nor do I see any folders\files beyond the drive"

Is this on the Restore Manager?
If so there could be a problem with the ARCserve database.

Try replacing the database with a blank copy.

Are you doing an image/serverless backup? If so this is the default behaviour.

Also check in the global options of the job that you are enabling database recording, and that if you are using the image/serverless options that you have the option checked to be able to restore files instead of the whole drive.

Hi,

Stop all the arcserve services,
Delete all the files which start with letter "r" in the database folder

Try this alternate merge and check how it goes!!!
On the Registry, Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Computer
Assocaites\BrightStor Arcserve Backup\Base\Task

Create a Key called "Merge" and under this key Create a DWORD Value called "DoNotUseCatalogMerge" and set the Data on it to 1.

Restart the arcserve services,do the merge and then check
how it goes.

Good Luck!!!

Cheers

vschumpy - I'm backing up to a tape library that has SDLT tape rotation.

sandyboy: I'll look into your suggestion and let you know the outcome.

Thanks for the input guys, back to the drawing board. lol.

Thanks again.

Image/serverless option doesn't depend on the type of drive you're using, image basically takes a snapshot of the drive and backs it up in blocks rather than at file level - I guess you're not using this right?

If it is a database problem, then you might find this document useful:
