Can anyone give me a suggestion to restore an individual mailbox from a full Information Store backup using Veritas? I know that I can restore the entire IS to a different server, but I am trying to find a more efficient route.

Any ideas would be appreciated...

Did you back up the individual mailbox or just the Inf store?

How do you backup the individual mailbox?
I just backup the whole store, and am curious as to the answer for this one. Never had to restore, but am dreading when I need to!

In 2000 you get a backup program that allows a brick level backup, or you get a tool like power controls that allows you to extract a single mailbox from a backup.

In 2003, it's a moot point with the RSG. You simply restore to the RSG, then export the mailbox in question.

YOu say that in 2000 you get a backup program?
WHich backup program is this?
I am running win2k with all latest patches etc and the only backup program I have is ntbackup.exe

Which tool do you refer to when you say it extracts a single mailbox? Have you got a reference or a link?

Many thanks. I take it that you mean the veritas backup exec? If so, I guess that none of the built in (ie free)tools do the job?

ntbackup doesn't do a brick level. You could munge one with exmerge.
