Hello all you good people !

if i delete a file over a \\server\share session what happens to this file.

on the server in question, i can see a "recycler folder in the root of the drive. inside this there will be a number of recycle bins, named by SIDs. but i can only see deleted
files related to my profile on the server.

how do i restore some file that some user accidentially deleted like this ?

If you delete a file from a network share it's just deleted - it doesn't go to either the remote recycle bin or your local one. Solution is to:

a). recover from tape backup
b). stop people accessing the server and run a utility on it to look for recently deleted files (when you delete it just marks the diskspace as available rather than actually delete the file so it might be intact if the disk hasn't been used much since).
c). run Undelete utilities on your servers, once these are running they keep track of delete files - it needs to be running before the delete occurs though so not much help for your immediate problem.
