This has just started to happen, no upgrades or changes have been made recently. This past week I have found that I can no longer restore folders on MS or Netware server. If I try to restore a deleted folder or restore folders to a different location of the same NOS, I get a messege in the actlog to mount requested media. If I create the folder with the same name as what was there and restore just the files in it, it works like a champ every time. Running latest TSM 5.3 on a 2003 server. Ideas? Ran a selective backup with -dirsonly -subdirs=yes to overwrite old folders and recreate, but that didnt help.

Maybe try to to create a special diskpool (doesn't have to be big) and mgmt class for directories and use dirmc in your client opt file. Use the diskpool as target for the new mgmt class. Then run selective backup you mentioned above and try the restore.

Don't forget to set reasonable retention for the new mgmt class - should be at least as high as the highest retention used for files!
