I am trying to restore data (.mdb) file to a volume on our Netware 6.5 server. We are currently running arcserve 10. The data I am trying to restore is from Netware 5 with file compression enabled and arcserve 6.

When I restore the data, the .mdb file is very small in size and recently the restore abended the server twice. Does anyone have any ideas or come across the simular problem?

There appears to be so many unsupported things you are trying to do here.

Firstly - if it was backed up with ARCserve for NetWare Host server, you need to restore it with that - there is no way around this.

Secondly, if it was backed up from a compressed volume, it also needs to be restored to a compressed volume - this is a NetWare limitation.

There is no version 10 of ARCserve so I'd have to assume you are talking about Enterprise Backup here right, and that'd have to be either from a windows or unix platform.

If what you're trying to do does fall in the realms of supported - try disabling the sparse file check in the nwagent asconfig.ini and try the restore again.

Oh, and Good Luck :)

Thanks for that. I think I was a bit unclear. The correct version is Brightstore Arcserve 11.0 and I am trying to restore to a netware 6.5 volume via windows 2003 server. When busy restoring, it abends the netware server and the file that is does restore is very small in size. Hope this is clearer

Yes I have tried your suggestion but it did not work. Any other ones?

Is the original backup done with an ARCserve for Windows or ARCserve for NetWare version ??

regards

Then like I said in my first post "if it was backed up with ARCserve for NetWare Host server, you need to restore it with that - there is no way around this
