Hi,

I am looking for some help to restore exchange. We used an offsite backup, and it currently downloading the files. What I don't understand is, the files are coming down live priv1.edb.001 etc. all the way up to 43. Some are different sizes then others. Any ideas?
Is there a way to restore exchange email if I have some ost or pst files? Also, what about our contact list/global address book that was in public folder. Please help.

You'd have to talk to the vendor about most of that. And .ost would take some effort. A .pst would work with exmerge.

What other options do I have? I'm kinda at a stand still!

Other than talk to someone you're likely paying to provide a service? I think you need to start there first. They are obligated to make sure you understand their service so that you can use it properly.

After that, you could bring the backup in-house, like backtup to tape, or backup to disk.

Are you running a differential of incremental backup at all? This may explain the files and may need to be restored in order. Just an idea that you may be able to shed some light on.

You could start to reinstall the exchange side of things using '*\setup.exe /DisasterRecovery'. I have done this in the past with success. It is quite straight forward.

This will enable you to get exchange back relative to the org structure with AD that should be there from the previous Exchange config. Obviously, you will need the databases and transaction logs.
