Hi Guys,

Apologies if this has already been answered, but couldn't find the thread!.

Basically, my exchange server crashed and when restored had viruses on it (don't know how the hell this happened - it's fully protected!) and so I've rebuilt it completely and ensured I have a virus free restore for it. This then obviously means that I'm attempting to restore a mailbox to a user which (for all intended purposes) isn't the owner of the restored mailbox!. I'm now getting a "Access Denied" error when trying to restore, and despite using a variety of different accounts to try the restore, nothing seems to work. These accounts range from Domain Admins through to accounts which I have set up for this purpose only, giving them full access to the Exchange Mailbox store and so on.

Basically, I'm trying to restore "Mailbox A" to "User A", and "User A" was the original owner of the mailbox although through the rebuild this user obviously doesn't exist anymore so I'm 'redirecting' the restore to the users new account.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated guys.

Many thanks

Marko

. . and it would seem I can't post in the right forum either - sorry guys - this should be in Veritas Backup!!!

Silly me!

OK - so finally figured this problem out - seems though the answer was actually in the thread after all. In my case, when restoring to the mailbox I used the users actual display name rather than alias and this worked!. For example, "john smith" with username john01 and email john.smith@domain.com would need the name "john smith" added to the exchange restore redirection to work.
Hope this maybe clarifies for anyone else having similar issues.

Cheers

Marko
